Hello, I found this community recently and I wanted to try to help with RTP Replacement. But I wanted to be sure my WIP Replacement is good enough and follows the rules and guidelines.
Hopefully I can help more if this one is going in the right direction.

2 suggestions:
the top row on a charset is used for facing-up poses.
Characters on the RTP Style are not used to have mouths.

Looking nice, maybe, on the left/right poses, the eyes should be closer to the nose/mouse part of the face:
They are used to have only 1px of distance from the nose/mouth area.
Maybe some changes on the hair could make it closer to what you are imagining for it,
here are some references from differents charasets with long/tied hair people have been making through the years:

I’m just thinking about the handle color, in a case where someone that replaces the RTP has the text “DON’T PULL THE RED LEVER” on their game 
Another thing: We already have the Doors + Chests ones, pointing here so we can avoing make duplicates of those

the minecart has little up and down animation from the top part to the wheels, to help giving the feeling of motion. i guess it is one pixel thingy.
Other small change I’d suggest, is to move the stones down,
to the bottom of their sprite limit, I guess that gives the impression that they cover something, like an entrance or another character.
And the square button it’s kinda abstract for me, idk if I understand they.
That said, those assets are A Tier, very good for usage.

It looked like the Boy Sprite was not changed so I made this.
If the movement is too similar to the RTP I can change it.
They look good, maybe those white eyes are hard to read…
The OG eyes, are like little dots floating over a big forehead:

The front part of it looked like a little hat on my mockup, but feel free to use or discard any idea from this suggestion :}
